Born in North Yorkshire, I was inspired to write stories at an early age. With the aid of a few friends we turned my father’s garage into a theatre where we wrote and produced juvenile dramas. Local kids who watched our shows were expected to donate a penny to the RSPCA. In my early teens, I joined a theatre company and took part in many productions. Thus my love affair with all things dramatic began.
On a train journey to Italy in 1957, I met a young man. A whirlwind courtship followed before he joined the British Army. Fifteen months and hundreds of letters later, I boarded a troop ship bound for Singapore, where, aged seventeen, I married the love of my life.
My careers have included fashion modeling, market research and running my own business but writing has always been my true passion. A course in Journalism with the London School of Writing honed my abilities. A few years later I became an active member of a writers’ group, which added fiction writing to my repertoire.
I migrated to Australia in 1982 and now live with my husband in North Queensland. We enjoy frequent visits from our grown up family and two teenage grandchildren.
When I’m not writing, I love to read, entertain friends, work in my garden and travel.
